This video features Big Ben -- a 30+ year-old former Amish cart horse that I had the privilege to massage recently. Ben was incredibly lucky to be rescued from a kill pen by Melissa Horrigan, owner of Forever Echo Farm in Boxford. Her daughter rides this gentle giant, and she competes him in walk/trot classes. I could feel the scarring and lesions Ben had around his lower neck and shoulders from many years of doubtless very hard work as a cart horse, but he was very happy to have me work on these areas -- and also his hind end, as you'll see in this video.
